Our Saturday

We had lovely weather on Saturday and . . . had an even lovelier day!  We started chicken coop building and Cole had a soccer game.  Here is our day in photos (and a few words) . . .

We started our day with a drive to Home Depot . . . with a stop at Puck's Donuts.  The kids couldn't believe it, we all had donuts for breakfast.  I was officially sick after that one, but mmmm was it delicious!

So we went to Home Depot . . . our little chicken coop project has become a big chicken coop project.  Here is a link to our "design inspiration."  It is going to be 8' x 4' by 6' tall.  I will be sure to post more photos of the progress.  Anyway, one can spend A LOT of time in a home improvement store . . . so we did.  AND we ran out of time -- good thing we had Cole's soccer uniform in the truck.  While Josh was paying I took the kids out to the truck and got Cole in his uni.  He posed for some picks in the parking lot.

Here is Josh Loading some chicken coop supplies into the truck . . . after Cole was safely out of it.

Next we headed off to Cole's soccer team photos . . . then to his game.  Cole scored 3 goals!  He had a great time playing and we loved watching!

Next we headed home and had a little barbecue lunch out back and started on the coop.  We brought the chick's into the backyard with us for a little inspiration/motivation and . . . entertainment!  We find it is easy to just watch them . . . for hours.  They are more like mini-ostriches than mini-chickens at this point.

Here they are laying in a little circle, basking in the sunshine . . . and in the grass with Sheldon watching over them.  Sheldon is just as intrigued by them as well are.

Getting to work . . . Josh set aside the power tools for a while so that Cole could help a bit.

Henry wanted to help as well . . .

Cole and Henry made good use of all the building supplies . . .

A good start to the coop . . .

It was a beautiful day.  We all stayed out back until WAY past bedtime.   The kids took some convincing to come in and go to sleep.  Cole has been playing a lot with little men in different parts of the yard lately.  His favorite spot is the "artichoke jungle" . . . he had Maisie and Henry playing in the jungle as well.  No one wanted to end the day, but there should be more good weather and good times ahead!

Maisie and I managed to get burned (red heads!), but overall it was a great day spent together!
