Pregnancy Update

The date has been set for me to have the baby on January 4th (I go in at 7am to be induced) if I don't go into labor naturally before then . . .

I am on "modified bedrest" for the time being . . . I have an elevated blood pressure and am on my eighth day of a head ache but my lab tests and the results of monitoring of the baby are good so they are waiting a little longer (not inducing me yet -- no emergeny) but have me on bedrest and have scheduled me to be induced next week (the fourth) as I will be 39 weeks on Monday so baby will be good to go.

So you can all expect a baby by then!  If I can just make it another few days with this headache!!  I am kind of hoping to go into labor before the fourth, but that probably won't happen with bed rest . . .

In any case, not too much longer to wait.

You're probably thinking, "What the hell? Why is Carrie posting on my site?" I've been reading it every once in a while, and after reading your post, I felt I should say something, just in case your OB hasn't fully explained what could be going on. Rosie, really take it easy. It sounds like you have preeclampsyia--you don't have to have swelling or protein in your urine to have it. You have the headache and the elevated BP, and it can go from "take it easy" to extremely serious in no time. I'm sure your OB has already told you all of this, but just in case...If that headache gets any worse, or if you have upper gastic pain, or if you start seeing spots or lights, get on the phone with your OB immediately. I'd even go so far as to suggest heading straight for the hospital. You'd have a totally healthy kiddo if you delivered now--we just need to make sure you stay healthy, too. The problem w/ PE is that you often feel fine, so you think you can just sneak in a couple of chores or take a walk or something, when inside your body is really sick. And that BP will just keep rising. I don't want you to think I'm some wacko overreacting hypochondriac type. I've been through this, and I regret not taking it more seriously. I just want you and your kiddo safe and healthy! Let me know how things go! Love to you and your family!

Hi Carrie! Great to hear from you! I assure you I am trying to "take it easy" and aware of the health risks . . . I actually do have traces of protein and have had some swelling . . . I was the one who told them that I thought I had PE and was expecting the elevated blood pressure when they took it. I have been to the birth center twice in the past week to monitor the baby and me . . . so unless anything changes (vision, pain etc) then they will just induce on Thursday. I am on bed rest -- which I admit is hard with two kids, but I have some help . . . lots of family etc. I am taking the maximum dosage of Tylenol, so that helps with the headache, but not the boredom!! Come on, baby! I thought I would be doing this lying around AFTER the baby was born, not before!

Anyway, hopefully I will have pics to post soon. Thanks for your concern!

      Hugs, Rosie

Not enough coffee yet... I read this post, looked at my calendar, and thought - holy smokes she had the baby, because today is the 6th. Well, I am looking at a December calendar and so clearly it is only the 3rd. I know you must be bored and uncomfortable. Have you tried watching "Lingo" on the Game Show Network. I am considering trying out and need a partner. Kidding. Kind of. I am excited to think that in a month, Kent and I will be in living in Portland and can drive down to meet the new kiddo and to see you and Josh! Fun times ahead! Keep your head up and we'll be thinking of you tomorrow!

What is it with you and having babies on the 4th day of the month... ? I can't think of any good puns for January fourth, but little March Maisie is pretty cool with "the only day of the year that's a command...".
